MINUTES OF PUBLIC MEETING OF THE MONTESSORI EDUCATION CENTRE – CHARTER SCHOOL
BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF MEETING HELD January 6, 2021

A public meeting of the Montessori Education Centre – Charter School Board of Directors was convened at 8:30am on January 6, 2021 in the Director’s Office at 2834 E. Southern Ave, Mesa, Arizona.  Present at the meeting were the following members of the Montessori Education Centre Charter School Board of Directors: Tammy Whiting and Jacquelyn Scott (in person) Rachel Lichtenberger, Stephanie Ord, Laura Davis (Craig) via a Zoom call.

The members that were absent: no members were absent

The following matters were discussed, considered, and decided at the meeting:

  1. Credit card purchases from November, December and January for the Montessori Education Centre with the National Bank of Arizona credit card were reviewed. Stephanie Ord made a motion to approve the credit card purchases. Laura Davis (Craig) seconded the motion. A vote was held and the motion passed 5 to 0.
  2. Montessori Education Centre Charter School, (MEC), when the charter was written, offered middle school classes. The Board of Directors choose to discontinue offering middle school classes. Thus, the word, Secondary, needs to be removed from the Montessori Education Centre Charter School Mission Statement. Removal of the word, Secondary from MEC’s mission statement was presented. Rachel Lichtenberger made a motion to approve the removal of the word Secondary from the mission statement.  Jacquelyn Scott seconded the motion. A vote was held and the motion passed 5 to 0.
  3. MEC’s North Campus had previously offered Seventh Grade. This was discontinued. Thus, removing Seventh Grade from the ‘grades served’ represented on the Arizona State Board of Charter Schools dashboard from the Montessori Education Centre Charter School North Campus became necessary.  Removal of Seventh Grade from the ‘grades served’ represented on the Arizona State Board of Charter Schools dashboard from the Montessori Education Centre Charter School North Campus was presented. Laura Davis (Craig) made a motion to approve the removal of Seventh Grade from the ‘grades served’ represented on the Arizona State Board of Charter Schools dashboard from the Montessori Education Centre Charter School North Campus. Stephanie Ord seconded the motion. A vote was held and the motion passed 5 to 0.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:45am.
