Director's Message
Welcome to Montessori Education Centre--Private
and Charter Schools.
We, the staff,
are delighted to have the privilege of working with you and your child(ren).
The Montessori Children's Centre - Private School is our Toddler and
Preschool programs. Montessori Education Centres are our Charter Schools.
Our Main Campus has classes from Toddler to Sixth Grade. Our North
Campus has classes from Preschool to 9th Grade.
We started our
first year as a charter in 1996. We are also affiliated with the
American Montessori Society. Teachers employed by the school have been
trained at accredited Montessori Training Centers.
We encourage you to learn about what is going on at the school, and to be
involved.
Come and observe your child in the classroom several times
during the school year if possible.
Come to our parent meetings,
programs, and other school events.
We feel that you, as the parent,
can help us help your child learn and grow in the Montessori environment.
This web site is being designed to answer some of the questions parents ask
most often.
For more information on a particular topic, please bring
your questions to the school office, we would love to help you any in any
way possible.
Sincerely,
Tammy Whiting,

MEC
WAS ACCREDITED IN FALL 2008 BY
AMERICAN MONTESSORI SOCIETY
Congratulations
to Tammy Whiting and her faculty and staff.
Special thanks to Cassi & Pete Chenen and Lisa Wakefield,
facilitators of this process.
WHAT IS ACCREDITATION?
Accreditation
from the American Montessori Society (AMS) is a process undertaken by
schools that are committed to improvement on a continual basis. Through
a year-long self-study and documentation process, a school defines
itself in terms of strengths and areas that need improvement while
validating that the school “is what it says it is” and “does what it
says it does.” A strategic plan for the next five years is formulated
through this self-discovery.
Accredited
schools have obtained the highest level of recognition by AMS.
Accredited schools meet a standard of excellence in the implementation
of Montessori education that is recognized by the entire Montessori
community across the globe. To be considered a model Montessori school
with best practices pertaining to Montessori philosophy is a true honor.
